Trinity Centre - SJH - Parking
Dear Colleagues,
As you are aware, we have been working to implement a new parking system for the Trinity Centre and I am pleased to advise that this project has now come to fruition and the new system will be implemented from 11th April 2011.
This new system will be coupled with a new access system to the doors of the Trinity Centre and Old Stone Building for after hours use. This part of the project will be implemented on the 7th March 2011.
The current swipe card will be replaced with a new Reader Card System which will allow TCD Staff members’ access to the Trinity Centre and Car Park on a single card system. The new system is a pilot project for Trinity College. The same policies will apply to parking at the Trinity Centre as apply on the main TCD Campus. Entitlement to parking, does not give entitlement to a parking space. Spaces are strictly limited and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note that ALL TCD Staff with an office in the Trinity Centre must present in person for a new reader card to allow them access to the Trinity Centre. The following staff will be eligible to a new reader card with parking rights:
- TCD Full-time permanent employees with an office/lab space in the Trinity Centre SJH.
- TCD employees with contracts of at least 12 months duration with an office/lab space in the Trinity Centre SJH.
- TCD part-time permanent staff who work fifty per cent of a 34.5 hour week with an office/lab space in the Trinity Centre SJH.
- Students/staff who require a parking space due to a disability or with particular circumstances.
Please note that St. James’s Hospital staff that are currently using the car park will not have access under the new system.
There are currently 88 car parking spaces and 4 disabled car parking spaces in the Trinity Centre. All new employees will be put on a waiting list for parking and are not automatically entitled to park in the Trinity Centre. It is up to the Heads of Disciplines to advise all new personnel that parking is not automatically available to new members of staff and that a waiting list is in operation.
Please note that the infringement of traffic regulations will be enforced upon the introduction of the revised parking system. Please see the attached document outlining infringements which will be applied to staff who park illegally. It is the onus of staff members to familiarise themselves with the traffic regulations.
New swipe cards will be available from The School of Medicine Office located on the Ground Floor of the Old Stone Building. Once you have completed the on-line application form you will be asked to present in person at the School of Medicine Offices located on the Ground Floor of the three storey section of the Old Stone Building at an agreed time with the relevant documentation.
Please note that the Attendants do not have permission to allow staff access to the Trinity Centre parking system unless it has been authorized through this office.
A small fee will be imposed for issuing of lost/stolen replacement cards.
A list of Frequently Asked Questions, Policies and Procedures and Applications Forms (MS Excel 29 kB) are available on the School of Medicine Website. Staff should familiarise themselves with these new procedures and policies.
