MMI Clinical & Translational Research Scholars Programme – Applications Invited
A unique cross-institutional PhD programme, integrated with industry and clinical research centres, which will prepare graduates for careers in industry, academic medical centres and as biomedical entrepreneurs.

Molecular Medicine Ireland invites applications for a prestigious new PhD programme, funded through Cycle 5 of the Government's Programme for Research in Third-Level Institutions. The MMI Clinical & Translational Research Scholars Programme (CTRSP) is a unique cross-institutional programme which will develop graduates with knowledge and skills to pursue disease-focused research and bridge gaps between basic scientists, clinical scientists and industry.

MMI scholars will be based in either NUI Galway, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork or University College Dublin. Year 1 comprises taught modules and placements in industry, in academic research labs and in clinical research facilities. Scholars will then select PhD projects in areas including drug discovery, discovery/validation of biomarkers and patient-oriented research in clinical research facilities.

This programme is developed with and includes significant involvement of industry and of the Irish Medicines Board. Industry partners include Amgen, Creganna-Tactx Medical, Merrion Pharmaceuticals, Medtronic, Opsona, and Pfizer.

High-calibre candidates holding, or expecting to receive, a first-class or upper second-class honours (> or equal to 3.08 GPA) degree in an appropriate discipline are encouraged to apply.
Further details and application procedure at: http://www.molecularmedicineireland.ie/ctrsp
The deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm, Tuesday 26 April 2011.

MMI COURSE RERUN - Techniques and Strategies in Molecular Medicine

Online Applications invited

Date: 22 - 23 March 2011

Venue:
Conway Institute of Biomolecular & Biomedical Research
University College Dublin, Dublin 4

Online Application Period:17 Feb - 15 Mar 2011

Following the cancellation of part of this course last December, we are delighted to announce that the sessions we were not able to deliver have been rescheduled.

As there are additional places available at these rescheduled sessions, we are taking the opportunity to encourage all who wish to attend either individual sessions or all three sessions to come along.

This is one of the most popular MMI Courses over the last 8 years, with large audiences experiencing wide-ranging talks from investigators at the forefront of developing and using biomedical research techniques and technologies. The lectures this year include overviews of RNA interference, transgenic and gene targeting techniques, systems biology approaches, investigating protein-protein interactions, expression proteomics, fluorescent/confocal imaging, high content screening and analysis, and stem cell applications.

These sessions are primarily delivered on this occasion for the participants who attended Session 1 of this course last December. Therefore Session 1 is not repeated.
We are very happy to welcome all others who are interested in attending sessions 2, 3 and 4. However only those who attended session 1 in December 2010, and attend the remaining sessions on this occasion, are eligible to receive a MMI Course Certificate of Attendance.

Go to http://www.MolecularMedicineIreland.ie/courses.htm In order to apply to attend part or all of sessions 2, 3 or 4.
Should you have any further queries regarding this MMI Course, please feel free to contact us at education@MolecularMedicineIreland.ie
