Research Project 5 - Age Related and Stroke Services
Mr. Tadhg Stapleton is currently involved in a collaborative clinical study with the AMNCH Hospital, Tallaght. The study is designed to define and examine the content of the occupational therapy pre-driving assessment for people recovering from stroke and how the findings of such assessment relate to the outcomes of the in-car driving assessment. Particular emphasis will be placed on examining the assessment profile of the people who fail the in-car assessment. The findings are likely to be of importance in future service delivery, particularly related to the possible identification of deficit areas that may be remediable. It is also hoped that the findings will guide future practice guidelines for occupational therapists working in this area through the identification of standardised assessments that are sensitive to the outcomes of the in-car assessment.
