Research Project 3 - Advocacy Champion Training (ACT)
Dr. Siobhan MacCobb is a committee member of the Inter Agency Advocacy Movement which is a network of services for people with learning disabilities in the Dublin and Wicklow area. The current project on Advocacy Champion Training (ACT) has been part-funded by the Citizen’s Information Bureau (COMHAIRLE). It involves training in Peer Advocacy for people with learning difficulties so that they can bring about change in their day to day life. It also involves staff training and development in supporting people with learning difficulties in advocating for themselves and in participation in advocacy groups and advocacy meetings. So as to influence the service providers. The third component of this project involves management training in advocacy and the development by management in a strategic plan related to advocacy for their service.
