Practice Educators Resource Kit
Introduction:
Practice Educator is the title given to the individual occupational therapists who mentor, educate, supervise, monitor, and assess students when they are on their practice education placements.
In accordance with guidelines from the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland, practice educators of senior freshman, junior sophister and senior sophister students must have at least one years experience in practice before supervising a practice education placement for students at these practice education levels.
The discipline recognises the essential role of practice educators and its responsibility to support and be involved in their continuing professional development. As such, the discipline is actively involved in organising practice education courses and seminars throughout the academic year and is currently involved in exploring new and innovative teaching and learning technologies for practice educators including virtual learning environments, blogs and audio and video podcasts.
