Directions to Teaching Hospitals
The Trinity Centre for Health Sciences St. James's
The Trinity Centre for Health Sciences is situated on the hospital grounds adjacent to hospitals 1 and 2. The building was opened in September 1994 and occupies 4,400 square meters of purpose built accommodation for teaching and research, including lecture theatres, seminar rooms, a library, a teaching laboratory, research laboratories, a staff/student common room, departmental accommodation for the medical school departments of clinical medicine, surgery, therapeutics, obstetrics and gynaecology, general practice, psychiatry, nutrition and dietetics, the St James' s Hospital School of Nursing and the William Stokes Postgraduate Centre. Facilities are heavily used by hospital units and professional organisations during the evenings, at weekends and out of lecture term.In addition to the Trinity Centre and the Sir Patrick Dun Research Laboratories, the Faculty of Health Sciences also bases its School of Physiotherapy at St James's and plans to move this School and the School of Occupational Therapy into new accommodation adjacent to the Trinity Centre within the next two years.
In September 1996, the School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies was established in accommodation attached to Hospital 5.
Directions
By Bus
The IMP 123 passes through the Hospital and stops on the main road, outside the concourse, and also across from Hospital 1 entrance. The 78A, 68A, 51 and 51B can all be caught outside the St. James's Street Entrance. Please note that some of these buses are exact fare. All bus routes are marked on our map.
By Train
The nearest train station is Heuston Station which is approx. a 15 minutes walk from the hospital. For more information about train services please visit Iarnród Eireann or contact them by phone at 1850 366222.
By Car
There is a new public undergroung car park located off Junction 2. Set Down Facilities are available at each Hospital Entrance or as close as possible.

Directions
The Hospital is situated in South West Dublin and is easily accessible by car or bus. It is close to the M50 motorway and the N81.
By Bus
The following buses will drop you at the gates of the hospital - 49, 49A, 50, 54A, 65, 65B, 65C, 77, 77A. All these buses leave from Eden Quay in the City Centre near O'Connell Street.
The 76 runs from Ballyfermot
The 76A runs from Blancherstown
The 201 and 202 are local Tallaght buses.

All these buses stop at the Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght. The hospital is one stop before this. Ask your bus driver to tell you when you are approaching the hospital.
By Taxi
A taxi from the centre of Dublin to the hospital will cost approximately €30. This amount is not exact and is only given as an indication of the approximate cost for someone who is considering this option.
By Luas
The hospital is now accessible by the red line on the Luas. The line starts at Connelly Station runs through Middle Abbey Street, Heuston Station and finishes in Tallaght. The hospital is adjacent to the second last stop on this line aptly named, "Hospital". Trams run daily and the average cost of an adult is 2euro for a one-way ticket.
